MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Parents/Guardians and Students,

As a result of the coronavirus pandemic, this past school year was an incredibly challenging year for all of us.  It is wonderful to have you as part of our Esperanza Preparatory Academy FAMILY and hope you are all safe and well. We are, as I am sure you are as well, missing portions of our life pre-COVID-19; interacting with our teachers and friends, learning from one another, and interacting as a community. School is an integral part of our everyday lives and I miss our second home, OUR SCHOOL. I miss the noise in the corridors, the interactivity in classrooms, the Student Council meetings, the assemblies and celebrations, the music, and the hustle and bustle during dismissal.

Our life has dramatically been transformed by the present crisis. It is not the time to blame anyone; it is the time “to be together”. It is the time to “reflect” upon our past actions, which may help us develop ourselves as better human beings with strong moral values of “sharing, caring, respect, honesty & humility”. It is the time to address all our concerns and weaknesses in order to evolve and be able to face the challenges of the present and future.

However, our learning cannot stop. Learning has no boundaries. We learn from our actions, our different languages, our different cultures, and experiences.

It is my pleasure to welcome you to Esperanza Preparatory Academy’s 2020 – 2021 school year! We are a 6th to 12th  grade school with the mission of providing our students the opportunity to excel in academics, pursue the arts, and participate in extra-curricular activities that will propel and prepare them for college and career readiness in their post-secondary endeavors.

It is our hope that you find this handbook helpful to you. We encourage you to print it and place it in a convenient location at home, where it can be easily referenced.

Please understand that the ultimate goal of this handbook is to maintain an orderly, safe, and nurturing environment, where children can achieve optimum academic, social, and physical growth. We are all partners in this effort – everyone shares in the responsibility of making our school community a positive, supportive place that promotes the development of each child.

Should there be any updates to the handbook during the school year, we will be sure to notify you and update the Parent & Student Handbook posted on our school website (www.epaschool.org).

We thank you for your continued support of Esperanza Preparatory Academy and all those who make up our school community.

Best to all of you,

Luisa Morales,
Principal
